Reasons so Many Visit Nazareth

According to the Bible, Nazareth is where Jesus was raised as a child. Many people come to this location from their homes in other countries to explore what this sacred place has to offer. There are numerous shrines and churches here to visit that all commemorate certain parts of the Bible.

History

Archeology has found a variety of artifacts and human remains that have led them to believe Nazareth has always been a very important place for religion. Some of these remains also date back to the earlier times when the Romans were believed to be living in this area. The early Christian era found in the majority of history books refers to Nazareth as the place where a pilgrimage started and where so many sacrificed their lives for their religious beliefs.

Islamic and Ottoman Eras

However, it isn’t just Christianity that has a place in Nazareth. There are also ties to Islam and the Ottoman eras. The Crusaders lived here around 1100, but they still allowed safe passage for those who were of different religions. In the 14th Century, monks were allowed to be in this area but they were asked to leave around 1584. Even during these times, it seems there was plenty of Christianity still being shared and practiced around the area. Monasteries and churches are a common attraction for people to see in this area.

There are great views throughout this area. There are mountains and a relaxing, tranquil valley with plenty of hiking trails. Many people come here to rejuvenate their mind, body, and strengthen their religious commitments. It is far from the noisy city regions of Israel, but still close enough that tourists can visit more than one area during an expedition.
