Caesarea is a Very Busy Place for Tourists
The location of Caesarea, right between Tel Aviv and Haifa, makes it a very busy place for tourists in Israel. Even if people decide to stay in accommodations in another area, they tend to spend at least a day exploring here. The population is very small – less than 5,000.
The business park here is the primary source of the local economy. Many of the people who work here live in the surrounding areas. The variety of businesses continues to grow on a regular basis. There are more than 170 of them now and close to 6,000 people are employed here. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants as well as shopping opportunities. There are a few hotels in the area, but most tourists stay in either Haifa or Tel Aviv.
National Park of Caesarea Maritima
For many visitors to this area, the National Park of Caesarea Maritima is what they came to see. This was established in 1952 on the ruins of Stratonos Pyrgos. It is believed this area is of historical significance due to the ruins of Roman temples that have been found. It is believed gladiator games and various theater productions were held in this area on a regular basis around 22 B.C. Today, it is a wonderful place to explore trails, to see animals in their natural habitat, and to see plenty of flowers and other plants growing.
