Haifa Is an Exciting City to Explore

Haifa is one of the largest cities in Israel. The population is about 277,000, but there are almost twice that many if you count the surrounding areas. People come and go from Haifa all day and night. They come for work, for entertainment, to enjoy the scenery, and it is a common tourist attraction. The landscape is amazing due to the location – along the sloping areas of Mount Carmel.

This area has a very rich history and was believed to be founded by the Romans in ancient times. This area is widely mentioned in various books of Judaism. Around the 12th century, this area was captured by the Crusaders. History books tend to focus on this area in reference to Napoleon Bonaparte when he conquered it in 1799. People come from all over the world to Haifa due to the high regard for the Jewish religion found here. There are a few Muslim and Christian references, but not to the same degree as the Jewish writings.

Explorations

Even though Haifa is a large city with plenty of high buildings, there is also tranquility to be found in many areas. The Carmel Mountain offers plenty of animals, plants, and flowers. There are plenty of paths that wind through the isolated areas and offer an inside look at the natural setting in this mountainous terrain. Some unique animals are found here, including the Golden Jackal and chameleons.

There are plenty of fun nightlife events, including music and dancing, as the sun goes down. There are shopping districts and plenty of places to eat. Due to the diverse ethnic groups in the city, you will find an array of foods to try. There are plenty of types of accommodations for travelers.

Mediterranean Coastline

Haifa is attractive because it can be accessed from the Mediterranean coastline. It isn’t unusual for tourists who are part of a boating expedition or a large cruise to dock here to go exploring. There are also tourists who charter boats to go out to see the sea or for amazing fishing experiences. This is a major import and export area with a great deal of the economy in Haifa coming from the use of this coastline. Due to the bay, industry continues to grow here at a very rapid pace.
